I think this will be the end of the Week of... series. We are coming up on month 3 and that is often the breaking point for people. You either settle in or do something drastic. I think I had my drastic last week with the random rant about people in general, and now I think I am settling in. All in all it was a good week. Work is going well, I'm writing new code and solving a lot of problems which is always a good feeling. I think I have learned that I enjoy creating things and using technology to actually IMPROVE people's lives not to be lazier, but to be more efficient. I have learned that being lazy is a great way to lead innovation. What is something you do everyday that is annoying? Is there is some imaginary device or process that would help you improve that? Think about it. Work on improving ONE thing each day. One thing. In 30 days, you will have improved 30 parts of your life. Seems simple, then why not do it. Honestly, Simple things...

Next topic, my actual week. Susie and I have FINALLY had a weekend where we did nothing... truly a weekend for us. She actually had a photography class and we did go out for dinner, but for us that is limited. We cleaned up the garage, the office, and moved some things to the attic. Now, moving on from there, I went to Alive after Five in Roswell, and had some cajun food and met some people from #Webutation (www.webutation.com). It is an interesting concept. There was some bands playing and we eventually ate at Phish Phood off of Woodstock Road. Pig and Grits, pork, grits, and a fried egg... Really good southern food. Want to checkout their brunch on sunday, sounds good. In addition to that, we ate at Lucky's which is a burger joint in Roswell. A note on that, most of the restaurants I am going to talk about are located in Roswell. There are several here. Ok, at Lucky's we had fried pickles, fried pimento cheese balls, and bacon cheeseburger with onions and bbq sauce. You get the point, real healthy food. What I have learned recently is food in the NorthWest is generally "healthier" than food in the South, I never realized how much fried food I ate until I moved back here. I'm sure it was ok for a few years, and now that I'm "older" I can't imagine doing that every day. But here that is what is available... we have had 5 different BBQs and the appetizers at most restaurants are deep fried something... I have a new found respect for the guy on Man vs Food. His doctor has to be concerned for him. I have watched forks vs knives, supersize me, and a few others of those eat healthy movies. I have learned that there is no "diet" that is perfect for everyone which sucks for marketing because everyone wants a silver bullet. I have friends who are vegetarian, vegan, paleo, atkins, etc... One friend of mine is almost strictly vegan and probably one of the healthiest person I know. I also have a friend who is following paleo and he is healthy too. I think we need to test our diets... try different things... don't eat bread for a while, don't eat red meat, only eat green vegetables, eat only red meat, eat fish, don't eat fish, figure it out for YOU. Test it out for 10 days... stick with a plan for 10-15 days. And watch what happens. I thought Paleo was nuts... makes no sense from everything we have been taught, but I never felt healthier and more energy. Bread does not sit well with me, not that I can't eat it, but I have a crash after it. Anyway, it was really eye-opening for me. Just some thoughts to help you realize what works for you. Your body is different from anyone else. If that is true, then how can someone else's eating habits be appropriate for you? We can make vast generalization, and find people that fit our demographic so we can market it correctly and throw in some emotional appeal to make you feel inadequate and want to buy our diet, our workout plan, etc... do P90x, do Insanity, do Zumba, do Yoga, do Crossfit, don't eat meat, don't eat bread, don't drink soda, avoid caffeine, avoid alcohol, etc...Figure out what works for you, no one else. We can't give you a silver bullet to solve all your problems, you need to figure it out. Its not easy, but you'll be amazed at what you learn.
